Makeup That Looks Like You — Just More Rested

8 min read

The techniques and products that work with mature skin, not against it. Dewy, fresh, and done in under 10 minutes.

The goal of makeup after 40 is not to look younger. It is to look like the best version of yourself — rested, healthy, present. The techniques that achieve this are different from the ones that worked at 25.

Skin prep is 80 percent of the result. A well-moisturized, primed face holds makeup better, looks more luminous, and requires less product. Apply your moisturizer, let it absorb for five minutes, then apply a hydrating primer — not a mattifying one.

Cream products over powder products, almost always. Cream blush, cream bronzer, cream highlighter — they melt into the skin and look natural rather than sitting on top of it.

The finishing touch: a tinted lip balm or a sheer lipstick in a color close to your natural lip color. The whole routine, done well, takes under 10 minutes and looks like you — just more rested.
